Paediatric Diabetes Team, Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

Paediatric Diabetes Team, Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

North West

The team's innovative and imaginative approach to care has hugely improved national diabetes clinical outcomes for children and young people in Southport, Formby and West Lancashire. Their innovative approaches have included embracing diabetes technology and social media for patient engagement; routinely using telemedicine clinics since 2010; holding family diabetes fun day events and evening structured family education sessions; establishing a children’s Diabetes Geeks Club while embracing well-being and solution-focused approaches into routine diabetes care.

Nominated by: Rosie Cooper MP
I was keen to nominate the Paediatrics Diabetes Team at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital for the improvements they are bringing to their patients’ lives, particularly through the use of technology, and I’m delighted that they have been shortlisted.
